2012 Hunting Trip
The Colby hunting trip was Kansas hunting at its finest – real dogs, real shotguns, real pheasant, real hunters, and real pick-up trucks (except for a couple of members in a mini-van – how lame). It was a great winter-time break for our Vizslas and their owners. A SPECIAL thanks goes to the Beckleys for sponsoring this exciting event.
Specialty Show - February 2012
The RMVC held a specialty show, puppy sweepstakes, veteran sweepstakes and supported entry in conjunction with the 2012 Rocky Mountain Cluster Dog Shows. There were a total of 36 dogs entered for the specialty show. Ginger Sammonds was the show chair for this event and deserves a big thanks for her hard work.
Snowshoeing at Copper Mountain with the RMVC is a favorite annual event. This year it was so warm that snowshoes weren’t even required! Thanks to Mike Neff for arranging this event each year. The dogs loved it, the people loved it, and hopefully one of us will remember to take photos next year!
Horseback Field Trial - March 2012
Thanks to all the participants, judges and volunteers who helped make the RMVC’s 75 entry horseback field trial a great success. A special thanks goes to Jane Cook (event chair) and Janice Branam (event secretary) for their hard work in planning this event. There were lots of other helpers and volunteers that also deserve a big thank you!
Walking Field Trial - April 2012
The RMVC hosted a walking field trial in April 2012. There were 90 entries, and
thanks goes to the chair, Aaron Davis, and the secretary, Janice Branam for their work in planning this event. Thanks also to the judges, gunners, and other volunteers who helped make this event a success.
Agility Trials - May 2012
The RMVC hosted 3 days of agility trials in May. What a successful event this was! With 2 rings and 2 judges there were 660 runs on both Saturday and Sunday and 560 on Monday. There were nearly 300 dogs entered each day and the parking lot was overflowing with cars and RVs. This event was a major success for the RMVC, and required the help of lots of club volunteers. Special recognition should be given to Katherine and Dale Hokens for planning this event, and thanks to the scores of other helpers. We look forward to hosting two agility trials next year! And, we'll make sure we get photos to share.
AKC Judges Seminar - June 2012
The Rocky Mountain Vizsla Club along with the Skyline Brittany Club hosted a much need AKC judges seminar in June of 2012. As you can see, it was well attended with folks coming from New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma! We learned much and even roped in several new judges!
Rockies Game - July 2012
The Rockies game is one of the few people-only RMVC events. The dogs would probably enjoy it too, but since they aren’t allowed in the stadium, they have to stay at home. We can thank Erica Sparrow for planning this event. Rumor has it that some participants didn’t even make it to the game (which is likely why there isn't any evidence...er, aren't any photos of this event), opting to remain in the “refreshment” area. That may have been a good choice considering the Rockies lost this one. We’ll see what happens next year!
Summer Picnic - August 2012
The summer picnic is a fun event that everyone in the club looks forward to, especially the Vizslas! This year’s event was planned by Randy Sullivan, who also was the head chef. There was swimming (dogs only), great food (people only) and lots of other fun (people and dogs). Constant action and entertainment was provided by our Vizsla friends. A special thanks to Randy and also to Connie for providing her awesome property, complete with a pond, for our event.
Specialty Show - August 2012
Two Specialties a year!?!? Yep, we're crazy like that. Actually, thanks to our dedicated and hard-working volunteers we have the people power to host these Specialties in addition to our very full (and diverse!) calendar. Big thanks to Show Chair Randy Sullivan for volunteering. Thanks also to Judy Hetkowski for organizing such wonderful trophies and Shawna Wells and Rob Mullins for providing refreshments. We enjoyed a nice entry of 46 and nice weather to show off our lovely Vizslas.
Hunting Test -October 2012
The RMVC hosted a double double hunt test with the Skyline Brittany Club during October. The weather wasn’t very cooperative on Saturday, but a great time was had by everyone anyway! Mel Reveles was the chair for this event and Janice Branam was the event secretary. Thanks to Mel, Janice, and the many other helpers for making this event a great success! Also, thanks to the Masolettes for allowing us to use their ranch in Agate, CO as the grounds for this event.
Annual Holiday Party - December 2012
Our Annual Holiday Party is a favorite event among our club members. Thank you to Erica Sparrow for organizing again this year. We had a great turn-out. Wonder if it had something to do with the bottomless mimosas? Regardless, it was a much deserved, relaxing late-morning brunch enjoyed by many of our hard-working volunteers. What an excellent way to finish off our successful and very busy year!
